Year of Composition: 2000-2001
Orchestration: 3 tuned claves (B flat, E and A) and mechanic metronome
Duration: ~ 10'
Dedication: for Bea Bartos

A sonata movement consisting solely of rythms. All themes are deduced from the date 20th June 2000, 23:00 and the names 'Bartos Bea' and 'Siska Ádám'. To transcribe numeric (date- and time-based) data I took the binary representation of the given number and then replaced all ones with ticks and zeroes with silences. As an example, the transcribed form of the number '2000', which is the main theme of the sonata reads . | | | | | . | . . . . (full stops indicate silences and pipes indicate ticks). To transcribe names I used the metric rules of ancient Greek poetry. The durations of the different sections of the piece are based on the golden ratio. The whole work consists of 2000 metronome ticks, which is indicated in the score itself as well.
